For students who go to study in another country and are going to join the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), this information is for you. There are certain things you need to do before and during the NYSC registration process to be approved to serve your country.

If you studied in a foreign country, you don’t need a list from the Senate, but you have to go for physical verification at a designated center near you. They will tell you the dates and places for the verification of your documents. During registration, you need to go to a café with the following things:

1. Your international passport.
2. Your residence permit.
3. Your academic transcript.
4. Your WAEC certificate.
5. Your certificate from your school.
6. An evaluation letter from your school (get this from the Ministry of Education in Nigeria).

You have to upload all these documents during registration.

Here are some extra tips to help you during the online registration:

1. The documents you upload should be the original ones, not photocopies.
2. Don’t create more than one account.
3. Make sure to write your name exactly as it appears on your certificate.
4. You can do the registration from anywhere, but you have to get your thumbprint done in Nigeria.
5. If your school hasn’t been evaluated, contact the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja to get an evaluation letter.
6. Follow the instructions and go for physical verification when they announce the date.
7. After the online registration, you have to go for physical verification at designated centers. Bring your original degree certificates, transcript, and travel documents.
8. Once your credentials have been verified, you need to print a Clearance Slip. You have to present this slip and your original documents during the camp registration, along with your international passport.
9. If you have questionable credentials, it’s better not to show up for the orientation exercise to avoid trouble.
10. If you have been exempted from the service, you can collect your Exemption Certificate at the National Youth Service Corps headquarters in Abuja.
